About This Tool

Paste any text and have it read aloud using your browser's built-in speech synthesis. Choose from the voices on your device and adjust reading speed, pitch, and volume, with Play/Pause/Resume/Stop controls.

Long passages are split into sentence chunks so they play without hitting length limits, with a progress indicator showing the current part. Everything runs locally through the Web Speech API — your text never leaves your device.

**How It Works**

The Web Speech API hands your text to the OS speech engine, which synthesizes audio using installed voices. Available voices depend on your browser/OS. Rate sets words per minute, pitch the tone, volume the loudness. Synthesis is on-device, so nothing is uploaded. Useful for proofreading by ear, resting your eyes while listening to articles, accessibility, and language practice. The API cannot directly export an audio file.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which voices can I use?
Any voice installed on your device and exposed by your browser — usually dozens of languages/accents.
Can I download the audio?
Not directly — the API synthesizes live and exposes no downloadable stream. Record system audio separately if needed.
Why does long text keep going?
It splits into sentence chunks and plays them in sequence, showing "part X of Y".
Is my text sent to a server?
No. Synthesis happens on your device.
